May 6: HDR Photography with Gary Coyne / Introducing Lightroom Mobile

Learn about HDR photography and the new Lightroom Mobile App for iPad at our next meeting.

We are pleased to welcome back Gary Coyne to LADIG.

Some time ago (okay, a long time ago) Gary did a presentation on how to get into the HDR photography game. Since then HDR has gotten easier and better, and Gary’s back with update on the state of HDR and the tools, tips, and tricks to make great HDR photos, using Lightroom, Photoshop and Photomatix Pro.

From creating the proto-images used to create HDR to solid techniques that best replicate what we see, Gary will present a variety of tricks and techniques to help you get the best results. Gary will also discuss how to avoid the over-saturation and halo images which give HDR a bad name. Gary’s goal in many of his HDR photos is to make them look not like HDR, but something different…

Gary Coyne has worked with Photoshop since Photoshop 5.0 and has been creating HDR images for over 6 years.

The new Adobe Lightroom Mobile for iPad is out! Access, edit, organize and share from anywhere.

Daniel will show you what you need to know about this new app in his monthly short segment.

April 3 Event: Eric Curry

LADIG: Eric Curry

LADIG welcomes back Eric Curry to our April 3 meeting at West Hollywood Park Hall. Eric going to present his series of photographs of American Pride and Passion.

Eric literally paints with light to create his photographs. He says, “I am basically taking 25 years of technical special effects photographic knowledge and applying it to objects that we all take for granted in our daily lives.  Not shooting images of new “toys” per se, but rather whole scenes of regular objects in their environment.  Truly believing that beauty is all around us, we just have to look with a slightly different pair of colored glasses to see it. I’m hoping that the huge amount of energy I pour in to each and every work will help illuminate the inherent beauty in these otherwise average scenes.

With over  slides and dozens of anecdotal stories woven into a presentation, this is a wild ride of cutting edge photography, along with a true glimpse at the nobility of character embodied by the volunteers in these images.”

This month LADIG also introduces a new Lightroom: Before & After feature. Daniel Sofer and Lee Varis share a photograph and show how they created it in Adobe Lightroom (and sometimes Photoshop), so you can learn more from the official Los Angeles Adobe Lightroom User Group.

Greg Dyro will also show his latest Wacky Hacks.

Our April event will be held at the West Hollywood Park Auditorium. Doors open at 6pm for some finger food and conversation, then we’ll get rolling around 7pm.
