August 18: Developing Strategies + Production Still Photography

Our next meeting is Tuesday, August 18 and we will be talking about two things:

Our technical segment will focus on developing your photos with Lightroom. We’ll be talking about how to approach development and some good techniques to get the most out of your images.

Our artistic segment will feature well known unit photographer Melinda Sue Gordon, who will show her work shooting stills on some of Hollywood’s most acclaimed motion pictures. Melinda Sue will explain what a Unit Photographer does, and explain the special equipment and unique challenges this photographic specialty entails.

July 14: Make a photo book with Adobe Lightroom

This month meeting is Tuesday July 14th, and we’re going to show you how you can make your own book using Adobe Lightroom!

Lightroom’s book module is integrated with Blurb – the most popular way to make and sell your book – and we’re going to show you how it’s done. Greg will show the book he made with Blurb and explain how he did it.

But there are other options, especially if you want more control than Lightroom provides, and Daniel & George will cover them: exporting a PDF from Lightroom for printing with another provider or even from your own printer; and other ways to make a book.

Mitch Dobrowner Landscape Photography

Mitch Dobrowner’s B&W Landscape Photography

Our November meeting featured Mitch Dobrowner and his incredible digital B&W landscape photography. We managed to capture a portion of his presentation on his journeys in the southwest and that is presented here for you enjoyment:

Mitch Dobrowner – 1

Mitch Dobrowner – 2

Mitch was very candid about his process and answered questions from the audience as he went along. Although we only caught a portion of his first set, after the break he went on to show dramatic work from his series on storms and urban landscapes. Mitch also graciously displayed a set of Epson prints and most attendees stayed to view these luscious fine art prints and talk to Mitch in person.

Beautiful work and a wonderful presentation!
