Tuesday, February 21st, we’re going to talk about portrait lighting. George Simian will demonstrate some of his favorite lighting techniques.
A portrait is a photograph that brings the memorable experience of meeting that person to the viewer! What makes is striking is first of all the connection between photographer and subject – followed by the striking use of light to shape the face with highlights and shadows – and enhanced by the post-processing. Join George Simian for a live photo shoot where all aspects of the portrait, from lighting, to directing, and to post-processing will be fully addressed. Using only two small flashes and some reflectors, George will create three different looks, and working together with his model, create a strong image in each setup. After the photo shoot he will pick one image, and process it in Lightroom and Photoshop, within a 5-minute window! Participants will be encouraged to ask questions about each step in the process, and will take short turns making some portraits, using George’s setup (bring your camera!)
Our event will be held at Plummer Park in West Hollywood. The entrance is on Santa Monica Blvd at Martel Ave, there is adequate parking on-site (3 hr limit) with additional parking available at the north end of the park (accessible from Fountain Ave). We’ll be meeting at Fiesta Hall, a large hall at the north end of the park.
Doors open at 6pm for snacks and socializing, the presentation will start at 7pm.
Admission is free and open to all, but we’d appreciate a donation to help keep LADIG rolling. Register on the form below:
