Feb 17: Prepare your portfolio for maximum impact

Join us at Canon Hollywood as we welcome Jolene Hanson, director of the G2 Gallery, who will offer tips and suggestions for preparing your portfolio for maximum impact.

Jolene Hanson will discuss what to expect from the world of art galleries; from the standards of your biography, CV, and website, to the vision of your portfolio, to the often-glossed-over topic of professionalism and gallery etiquette. She will cover the basics that emerging artists need to have under their belts before approaching a gallery for consignment or exhibition, as well as the tools needed to communicate effectively in that world. Jolene will also cover personal artistic development and how to find the right market for your work in this comprehensive discussion preparing artists to take that next big step.

This meeting will be held at a special location:

The Canon Hollywood Professional Technology & Support Center
6060 W. Sunset Blvd
Hollywood, CA 90028

Doors open at 6pm for snacks and conversation. Bring your Lightroom and photography questions and we’ll help you out. Let’s talk about what you’re shooting, and how. A Canon representative will be on hand to answer questions and demo selected Canon cameras and lenses, including their just announced 50Mpixel 5DsR.

Presentation starts at 7pm: We’ll have a short Lightroom feature by Daniel Sofer and critique session by Greg Dyro; then we’ll talk about portfolios.

There is street parking on Gower and Gordon Street: meter and free spots. No parking on Sunset Blvd. from 4-7pm, but it’s free after 7:00. If you’re transit oriented, the Metro Red Line Hollywood & Vine Station is less than a 1/2 mile away.

Thanks to Amy K. and Canon for sponsoring tonight’s meeting.

Admission is free, but we hope you’ll make a donation to keep LADIG alive.
